AFTERCARE

Tattoo Aftercare Instructions

Taking care of your new tattoo is just as important as getting it. Proper aftercare helps ensure your tattoo heals well and looks its best for years to come.

First 24 Hours

    •    Leave the bandage or wrap on for the amount of time your artist recommends (usually 2–4 hours).

    •    Wash your hands before touching your tattoo.

    •    Gently wash your tattoo with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap. Do not scrub.

    •    Pat dry with a clean paper towel or let air dry. Do not rub.

    •    Apply a thin layer of fragrance-free, tattoo-safe ointment or lotion recommended by your artist.

Days 2–14

    •    Wash your tattoo gently once or twice daily with fragrance-free soap and water.

    •    Keep it moisturized with a thin layer of unscented lotion 2–3 times per day. Avoid over-applying.

    •    Expect light peeling or scabbing—this is normal. Do not pick, scratch, or peel.

Things to Avoid While Healing

    •    Do not soak your tattoo in water (no swimming, hot tubs, or baths). Quick showers are fine.

    •    Avoid direct sunlight and tanning beds until fully healed.

    •    Do not apply heavy ointments, Vaseline, or petroleum-based products.

    •    Avoid tight or abrasive clothing over the tattoo.

Long-Term Care

    •    Keep your tattoo moisturized to maintain brightness.

    •    Always use sunscreen (SPF 30+) on healed tattoos to prevent fading.

Healing times vary, but most tattoos take 2–4 weeks to fully heal. If you notice excessive redness, swelling, pus, or other signs of infection, contact your artist or a healthcare professional.
